In order to generate genuine employment opportunities adapted to the real needs of the job market, we have signed an agreement with the Tourism Secretariat of the Municipality of Ushuaia. This agreement involves training in trades related to the tourism industry and subsequent job placement, through collaboration between the private sector, business chambers, and relevant unions.
The training programs will focus on vocational education in the tourism sector, specifically related to hospitality, gastronomy, customer service, and languages. The aim is not only to provide employment opportunities for young people and adults in Ushuaia but also to strengthen the regional economy and meet the demands of the labor market in the tourism industry.
Gustavo Ventura, the Secretary of Tourism, highlighted: «Through a joint effort between the Municipality of Ushuaia and the NGO Pequeños Pasos, we will strengthen and promote vocational programs and specialized courses in tourism, leading to swift entry into the job market. We will work with local chambers to expedite the process of young people entering formal employment. It is important to collaborate with intermediary institutions to promote training for the people of Tierra del Fuego.»
The courses will be developed by our «Programa Oficios» (Trades Program), in collaboration with the Banco Macro Foundation, a group of private companies across the country, and in coordination with the public sector. This program provides education and vocational training to vulnerable communities, aiming to improve regional economies and create genuine job opportunities and entrepreneurship.
Ramiro Pérez La Rosa, our General Director of Trades, stated: «We deeply celebrate this agreement through our NGO, through which thousands of young people and adults will receive quality training with a focus on the labor needs of the tourism sector. We are working throughout the country with an important labor training program designed in conjunction with the private and public sectors. Undoubtedly, this will be a model agreement to replicate in other locations.»
Ventura added: «Under Mayor Walter Vuoto’s administration, together with Pequeños Pasos, we were able to consolidate the early childhood center in the Andorra neighborhood of Ushuaia some time ago, and now we can also provide training tools for those who wish to join or improve themselves in a sector as important for our economy as tourism.»
Upon completion of the courses, the Tourism Secretariat of Ushuaia will act as an intermediary with companies, business chambers, and relevant unions to create over 1000 job positions and promote the development of the local tourism sector.
«We, at Pequeños Pasos, would like to express our gratitude to the Secretary of Tourism, Gustavo Ventura, and the entire Municipality for continuing to trust in us. With this agreement, we aim to enhance the vocational workshops with a professional curriculum that meets the needs of the tourism sector’s companies and chambers, with the goal of achieving rapid job placement and genuine employment,» said Darío Cortese, co-founder of Pequeños Pasos.
